Houston Boxer Rescue (HBR)  was born out of a deep love for the boxer breed and a desire to help end the suffering of boxers due to neglect, abuse, or abandonment. We dedicate ourselves to insuring that the dogs in our program get the second chance they deserve and never find themselves lost, alone, or abused, again.

BECAUSE OF YOU, WE MADE IT!

We set a goal for ourselves in 2009 to raise $30,000.00 in straight donations.  This figure was not to include adoption fees.  As you can see to the right, our final figure was $34,000.00!  It is because of you, the caring public, and our dedicated volunteers who also make monetary donations, that HBR was able to reach and exceed it's goal!  Soon we wil be setting the goal for 2010.  We hope everyone who supported us in 2009, plus new partners in 2010, will work with us to save as many dogs as we possibly can.

HBR placed 98 dogs in 2009 which was only 2 short of the goal we set for ourselves.  We are very proud of all our volunteers and appreciate how hard they work.  Rescue is a labor of love, and our volunteers love the dogs!  Please help us do more in 2010!

HBR receives calls every day from people who have found boxers.  In some cases these dogs are truly lost, yet in the majority of cases, the dogs have been dumped or abandoned.  Most Good Samaritans do not want to drop dogs at shelters for fear they will be euthanized.  The majority of local shelters do not have the resources to handle complex health issues, or have staff available to make long term commitments for puppies or heart worm treatment.  That is where Houston Boxer Rescue stands in the gap.

While we could not perform the work of rescue without our wonderful family of volunteers - we would find ourselves helpless and brokenhearted without compassionate people who see the need - trust us to meet it - and finance our efforts.  It requires combining our resources and yours, to get the job done.

Never think gifts of five, ten, or twenty dollars, are not enough to make a difference!  The work we do is cumulative, it takes us all!  That is why we refer to you as our partners.  We cannot accomplish this monumental task, alone.  Please take a moment to sponsor a dog of your choosing or make a donation toward the dogs who need you now more than ever.  You will be glad you did!

FOSTERING IS FUNDAMENTAL

Rescue is more than merely checking a dog out of a shelter and immediately placing it in the first interested home.  Fostering provides a stable environment where displaced dogs can be evaluated and restored to good health.  A place where trust is rebuilt and new skills are learned.  Fostering is the foundation of rescue.  For an organization such as HBR with no kennel facility, foster homes are crucial to our ability to save dogs from unnecessary death.  If you have ever wondered what you could do to help, becoming a foster home is an excellent place to start!   Be a life changer by making them One Less... One Less to Die.  Please take a few moments to fill out the foster application .  We are always excited to meet new people who have a heart to help our beloved boxers!  C'mon!  You can do it!
