An online Adoption Application must be completed by every prospective family. There is a $27.00 Home Visit Fee which is non-refundable. (Note: This fee is non- refundable and does not apply to the adoption fee.) This policy is in effect for reasons we will be glad to discuss during your interview. Please pay using our Pay Apps: Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal.
Please be patient with our nosy questions. We understand the application is lengthy; however, each question has a reason. A complete application helps us discern the best match for your family! It also demonstrates a level of commitment on your part. Our boxers are not "just dogs," and our adoptive families are not "just people"!
An incomplete application form will not be processed. This causes delays and disappointment, two words we would rather not have associated with your HBR experience. Let's work together!
Continue to check the e-mail address from which your application was submitted. When your application is processed, we will attempt to make contact by e-mail, text, and phone. Keep in mind we are an all-volunteer group. Although our families and jobs take precedence in our lives, we work hard to save the breed we love! We are committed to doing our best to facilitate the adoption process and make it as pleasant as possible!
When the application is received, a volunteer will contact you to schedule a Home Visit. The Home Visit Volunteer will be your primary point of contact within HBR until your adoption is completed. Upon approval, you will receive a list of our dogs and the foster's contact information. You are responsible for making contact and scheduling a time to Meet and Greet your new fur-ever friend. Please include your pets and family during the Home Visit and Meet and Greet.

Transport Fee
Our basic transport fee is $300; this price may change occasionally. This fee is for transporting our boxers up North outside of Texas. We do not offer transport in Texas/Louisiana.
Information
Each HBR dog will be fully vetted, spayed/neutered, and, if necessary, treated for heartworms prior to adoption. We are committed to disclosing to the prospective adopter any and all information we obtain about every dog in our program. You will receive veterinary records, a rabies certificate, an identification tag, and your very own wonderful new family member!
The adopted dog will be microchipped and registered with HBR as the contact. The chips used by HBR only allow one contact. The Adopter will receive a microchip collar tag with the adoption documents. At the end of the first year from the adoption contract date, and upon the Adopter's written request to HBR and advance receipt of a $20.00 transfer fee, HBR will process the transfer on behalf of the Adopter.
In addition to all of the above, every adopted HBR dog is entitled to one (1) free consultation with our professional trainer. The free consultation must be scheduled within sixty (60) days of the final adoption date on the contract. Contact HBR@HoustonBoxerRescue.org to schedule the training.
